New Delhi, Apr 28: An application was moved in the Supreme Court on Tuesday challenging the Central Bureau of Investigation’s decision to remove the name of the lone surviving suspect in the Bofors payoff case Ottavio Quattrocchi from its list of most wanted persons.

The application filed by advocate Ajay Agrawal sought the direction of the apex court to stay the operation of any withdrawal of red corner notice against Quattrocchi.

New Delhi, Apr 28: Congress spokesperson and Minister of State for External Affairs Anand Sharma on Tuesday accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) prime ministerial candidate Lal Krishna Advani of politicising the issue of terrorism.

“Advani is adopting double standards on the issue of terrorism. It should be opposed in all its manifestations,” Anand Sharma said at a press conference here.

Sharma also criticised the BJP for politicising the ATS Chief Hemant Karkare issue.

New Delhi, Apr 28: Bollywood actor Sharmila Tagore and media personality Anurradha Prasad were among the recipients of the FICCI Ladies Organisation (FLO) women excellence awards from Delhi Chief Minister Shiela Dikshit on Tuesday.

The FLO presented awards to 25 women achievers from diverse fields like art, business and entrepreneurs, public service, non-governmental organisations and professionals.

India International Centre (IIC) Chairman Karan Singh and Bollywood Director and filmmaker Yash Chopra were also present during the occasion.

New Delhi, April 28: Noted Yakshagana artiste, Chende and Maddale player Chipparu Krishnayya Ballal passed away on Monday while performing a Chouki Puja, a ritual worship performed in the green room before the main performance in Bangalore. He was 80.

Ballal, who came to Bangalore on April 24 as a member of the Edaneeru troupe for a weeklong programme in various parts of the city, performed till Sunday.

New Delhi, Apr 28: Union Law Minister H R Bhardwaj on Tuesday dismissed BJP leader L K Advani''s allegation that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) was working at the behest of the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government and clarified that no attempt has been made to save Italian businessman Ottavio Quattrocchi, the lone surviving suspect in the Bofors payoff case.

New Delhi - The International Cricket Council (ICC) Tuesday shifted the 2011 World Cup secretariat to Mumbai from Pakistan's Lahore and said India would be hosting a bulk of the matches followed by Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. The move comes after the ICC removed Pakistan as co-host of the event due to the "uncertain political situation" in that country.
