Biggest German TV group loses CEO Guillaume de Posch

Munich - Guillaume de Posch, the chief executive at the biggest of Germany's four main television groups, ProSiebenSat. 1, resigned Tuesday in an unexpected move that sent the group's shares lower.

The group is controlled by two private-equity investment companies, KKR (Kohlberg Kravis Roberts) and Permira, and has 3.5 billion euros (5.4 billion dollars) in debt after its takeover last year of Swedish based TV group SBS.

ProSiebenSat. 1 said de Posch was leaving at his own wish, effective at the end of this year, as it was the right time to move on, but gave no reason for his departure. He has run the group for the past four years.

Wake me up as you go-go - new interior lights could beat fatigue

Munich/Schwalbach - Car designers are currently probing new ways to avoid one of the most dangerous hazards of night driving - drowsiness and falling asleep at the wheel.
Many car crashes can be traced back to such momentary losses of concentration, a sudden sleepiness which can easily cause a motorist to veer onto the wrong side of the road with potentially fatal consequences.
To combat this phenomenon, an increasing number of new vehicles are being fitted with a bleeper that can alert the driver before he or she succumbs.
Now scientists are looking into a new way to fight grogginess at the wheel using high-intensity interior lights which prevent the driver from getting tired in the first place.
