London - West Ham United confirmed on Monday that they have agreed a fee to sell striker Craig Bellamy to Manchester City.

The turbulent Wales international had stormed out of training last week - subsequently being omitted from the squad for Sunday's 3-1 win over Fulham - after West Ham turned down bids from Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City.

London, Jan 19 : English 1960s folk singer Donovan has received a prestigious honour for his contribution to French culture.

The hippy icon was made an Officer of the Order of Arts and Letters.

The 62-year-old rose to fame in the 1960s with hits such as "Mellow Yellow", "Sunshine Superman" and "Jennifer Juniper". Most recently he collaborated with French group Variety Lab on their up-coming single.

French culture minister Christine Albanel pinned the medal to Donovan''s jacket during the ceremony in Cannes, reports the BBC.

London - The British government Monday launched a second multibillion-pound package to stabilize banks aimed at unfreezing credit markets and softening the blow of a deepening recession.

Among the measures set out by Chancellor of the Exchequer Alistair Darling is a massive insurance scheme to protect banks from so-called toxic assets, a move it is hoped will encourage institutions to restart lending to businesses and households.

It is the second bail-out for the banks in the space of just three months. A banking recapitalization programme announced in October had failed to provide a sufficient platform for normal lending to resume.

Lady GaGa, who had attended New York's Convent of the Sacred Heart school with the hotel heiress and her sister Nicky, recently claimed that her album `The Fame' was all about "how anyone can feel famous".

However, online bloggers claimed that the album definitely talks about Hilton, 27.

"Lady GaGa is clearly talking about the do-nothing heir-head she went to school with," the Daily Star quoted one blogger as having written.
