Pakistanis feel no system of government in country is corruption-free

PakistanKarachi, Nov 14 : A new survey conducted in Pakistan has revealed that people believe no system of governance including federal, provincial, district, tehsil/taluka and union was corruption-free as contracts and construction project licences are awarded after minting money.

The findings of the National Survey on Citizens’ Perceptions and Preferences on the Local Government System in Pakistan were presented at Provincial Dissemination Workshop here last evening.

Anand was kidnapped from Karachi on October 20.

His family claimed to have two phone calls, one traced to Quetta and the other to Bannu, asking them to deposit the money in an Egyptian bank account.

Musharraf to deliver lecture in Oxford University next month

Former Pakistan president Pervez MusharrafKarachi, Nov 13: Former Pakistan president Pervez Musharraf has said that he has accepted an offer to deliver lecture at the Oxford University. He would be visiting the university in December or January.

He also said that he was offered lectureships from various universities of Europe and America.

“I have not really taken a decision, except for Oxford University, where I will be lecturing in the last week of December or the first week of January 2009,” the Daily Times quoted him as saying.

‘Security reasons’ may see Indo-Pak series put off

Pakistan flagKarachi, Nov 12 : The Indo-Pak cricket series scheduled for early next year in Pakistan may be called off, as India’s External Affairs Ministry believes that security situation in the host country is “dangerous”.

But, a final decision is yet to be taken in this regard.

The series include three Tests, five One-day Internationals and a Twenty20 International in January-February 2009.
