Six killed, raqi oil ministry official injuredBaghdad - An Iraqi oil ministry under-secretary, Saheb Salman Qotb, was injured on Monday in a blast in front of house in northern Baghdad, police sources said.

One of his security guards was also injured in the attack, the source told the Voices of Iraq (VOI) news agency.

Separately, six people were killed and more than 20 were injured including 10 policemen, in two consecutive bomb attacks in the downtown al-Hurriyat Square in Baghdad, VOI reported.

Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshiyar Zebari said he expects a reply from Washington soon on amendments to the pact which Iraq proposed last week.

British troops in Iraq and Afghanistan to get new hi-tech body armour

London, Nov 3: British troops serving in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan would be provided with a new hi-tech combat outfit and hundreds of better-armoured vehicles by the Ministry of Defence (MoD), UK.

According to a report in the Times, a total redesign of military fatigues will give soldiers a head-to-toe integrated uniform, with all parts of the body being given new or additional protection against threats from high-velocity bullets and blast noise to mosquitoes.

Development work on the new battle uniform has been carried out amid growing criticism of the MoD over the protection given to troops.

Saddam Hussein’s yacht for saleLondon, Nov 3: Former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein’s palatial 270-foot yacht “Ocean Breeze” has been put on sale. Fastened at the southern French resort of Nice, the yacht is expected to fetch around 20 million pounds.

A senior Iraqi government official Ali al-Dabbagh said that the government hopes for a sale within the next few weeks.

Built in 1981, the Ocean Breeze is said to be modest in size compared with other “megayachts”.

Explosion in Baghdad restaurant, casualties unknown Baghdad - An explosion on Sunday struck a neighbourhood restaurant in eastern Baghdad. The number of casualties is still unknown, witnesses told the Voices of Iraq (VOI) news agency.

Police cordoned off Palestine street in eastern Baghdad where the detonation took place.

Separately, gunmen disguised in police uniforms broke into a house in Diyala province, north-east of Baghdad, killed a woman and injured three others from the same family, police told VOI.
