New Delhi, Dec. 9 : The Union Government has given the signal to the state-run oil company, Oil and Natural Gas Corporation(Videsh) Limited (ONGC) to make a formal offer for acquiring 100 per cent equity in the UK-listed Imperial Energy.
A special meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) was convened to consider the Imperial bid here today.

New Delhi, Dec 9 : A top Chinese official has said that China’s human rights development still had “quite a few things less than satisfactory,” but would see progress as the modernization drive goes on.
“Due to natural, historical, cultural and economic and social factors, there are still many problems and difficulties in the development of human rights,” said Wang Chen, the Minister in charge of the State Council Information Office.
Guwahati, Dec. 9 : India is making the same mistakes in handling its internal conflicts as it did in tackling the external attacks on Mumbai.
This is one of the findings of the Asian Council of Human Right''s in its India Human Rights Report 2008.
The report underlines that human rights violations by the State, combined with the failure of State institutions to address these violations, are fuelling internal conflict.
Islamabad, Dec. 9 : Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Qureshi has said even if allegations are proved against any so-called terrorist suspect, he or she will not be handed over to India.
"We are not oblivious to our responsibilities to defend our homeland. But it is our desire that there should be no war. Pakistan will not hand India any of the Lashkar-e-Taiba militants arrested on Sunday for they’re suspected role in the Mumbai terrorist attacks, but will try them under its own laws.”
