Western Air Command conference begins

Air Marshal PK BarboraNew Delhi, Nov 24 : The Commanders'' conference of Western Air Command (WAC) commenced here today.

The two day long commanders'' conference is being attended by the commanders of all the formations under the Western Air Command, Principal staff officers of WAC.

The conference is being presided over by Air Marshal PK Barbora, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief WAC.

President Patil leaves for Vietnam, Indonesia

Pratibha PatilNew Delhi, Nov 24 : President Pratibha Patil today left on a 10-day visit to Vietnam and Indonesia to expand India''s bilateral relations.

The high-level visit is expected to give a fresh impetus to bilateral relations encompassing political, economic and cultural ties.

During her four-day stay in Vietnam, Patil will have meetings with her Vietnamese counterpart Nguyen Minh Triet and the Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung.

The President would attend a business meeting being organised by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) and the Vietnam Chambers of Commerce.

Women candidates in electoral fray in Mizoram

Nagaland Assembly election endsAizwal, Nov 24 : An increasing number of women candidates are joining the electoral fray in the forthcoming assembly elections in Mizoram, scheduled to be held on December 2.

Mizo women have not been getting due importance in the state electoral politics although their contribution to Mizo society, economy and the church of the Christian-dominated state has been immense.

This has been despite the women voters outnumbering the male voters.

According to records, out of the total of 611,124 voters, there are 308,884women voters as against the 302,240 male voters.

Security matters to dominate India-Pakistan home secretary talks

India warns Pakistan from interfering in its internal mattersAmritsar, Nov 24 : Union Home Secretary Madhukar Gupta looks forward to addressing various security related aspects during the Home Secretary-level talks between India and Pakistan which begin in Islamabad on Tuesday.

Gupta is leading the India delegation at the talks.

Speaking to reporters here on his way to Pakistan, he said New Delhi expects proactive cooperation from Islamabad in dealing with security matters.

Films division looks for new avenues to popularise documentaries

‘The Warlords’ to be opening film at IFFINew Delhi, Nov 24 : Chief Producer of films division Kuldeep Sinha today informed that the films division is exploring new vistas to popularise the documentary films in India. A policy is being worked out to market the films made by the Division for the larger audience.

New mediums like mobile phones, television and festivals are being considered.
