A Dehradun school where students recite Quran and Hanuman Chalisa

Uttarakhand villages rejoice on receiving electricity after 80 yearsDehradun, Nov. 25 : A Dehradun school here is inculcating communal harmony and secular feeling among its students by enabling them to recite passages from Holy Quran as well as chant Gayatri Mantra and Hanuman Chalisa during assembly everyday.

The novel method of devloping secular feelings and respect for all religions is something that has appealed all students at the school.

There are 450 students at the Sanatan Dharma Senior Seconday School, two hundred of them being Muslim girls.

Make money affordable, says Yashwant Sinha

"It''s the cost of money which is the huge dampener. It has affected affordability at the corporate-level. It has affected affordability at the individual level," said Yashwant Sinha in interview with Asian News International.

Five police killed in Maoist attack in India

ChattisgarhNew Delhi - At least five policemen were on Tuesday killed in a landmine blast triggered by suspected Maoist rebels in India's central state of Chhattisgarh, a news report said.

The explosion that took place in the southern Bastar district of the state blew up a bridge killing five policemen and injuring two other security personnel, the PTI news agency reported quoting senior police official AN Upadhya.

The rebels carried out the blast when the policemen were returning after their election duty at polling booths in the region.

Chhattisgarh is one of the six Indian states holding elections.

Landmine blast kills five in Chattisgarh

ChattisgarhRaipur, Nov. 25 : At least five policemen of the District Force (DF) have been reportedly killed in a landmine blast triggered by naxalites in Bastar district of Chattisgarh today.

Inspector General of Police (Bastar), A N Upadhaya said that the naxals blew up a bridge killing five policemen on the spot and injuring at least two DF personnel near the Mardapal and Kondagaon areas of the district.

The force was returning after election duty from Narayanpur assembly constituency, where re - polling was held on Monday.

They halted in Mardapal last night after the polls and were returning to Kondagaon, Upadhaya added.
