RJD releases candidates list for 28 Bihar seats

BiharNew Delhi, Mar. 23 : The Rashtriya Janta Dal has released its list of 28 candidates for Bihar, with Union Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav contesting from two constituencies in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections.

"We will now contest in 28 out of 40 seats in Bihar as per our seat sharing pact with the Lok Janshakti Party (LJP). We will work to defeat communal forces," Lalu said, while adding that the decision on two seats was yet to be taken.

Lalu will contest from the Patliputra and Saran constituencies.

London-based British Asian theatre company Tamasha is staging an Indian-version play based on the famous novel at the Coliseum, reports Times Online.

The names of the main characters in the play would be Krishnan, instead of Heathcliff, and Shakuntula, rather than Cathy.

Brahmos to be inducted into IAF by 2012

Pillai was interacting with media at a function here on Sunday as he spoke at length about the programme for integration of the Brahmos missile on an airborne platform.

Mumbai terror attacks, 9/11 perpetrators present in Pakistan: Holbrooke

MumbaiBrussels, Mar. 23 : The US Special Envoy to Pakistan and Afghanistan Richard Holbrooke has said that the perpetrators of the Mumbai terror attack and the 9/11 are in Pakistan.

Addressing delegates at the Brussels Forum, Holbrooke said that the assassinators of the former Pakistan Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto are also present in the country itself.

"They're in Pakistan. In the western tribal areas, although it also extends down into Balochistan," The Nation quoted Holbrooke, as saying.

Judicial probe ordered into Orissa firing case

OrissaBhubaneswar, Mar. 23 : A judicial probe has been ordered into Sunday's police firing incident in Orissa''s Dhenkanal District that left one person dead and several injured.

According to an official statement released on Monday, the officer-in-charge of the local police station has been suspended, and 100,000 rupees ex-gratia payment has been announced for the family of the victim.

"A judge of the rank of district judge will conduct the probe," the statement said.
