In a repeat of the first days of industrial action six weeks earlier, crowds of hundreds of confused passengers amassed in the check-in area after security gates were closed.

Ground staff began their strike over terms and conditions on December 10.

On December 22, the unions suspended the strike for the holidays and returned to the negotiating table.

The deputy governor of the bank, Ferenc Karvalics, told the press that the monetary council had considered three possible cuts of 50, 75 or 100 basis points before settling for the most cautious option.

A basis point is defined as one hundredth of a per cent.

"The court of first instance ruling on the disbanding of the Magyar Garda (Hungarian Guard) doesn't mean anything. They will continue their work," said Gabor Vona, president of both Jobbik and the Hungarian Guard.
