Peer, who underwent Israeli military training which took time away from her tennis in recent season, had been the target of protests against her country's current invasion of Gaza in the Middle East, but had insisted that the political situation had nothing to do with her tennis.

But she didn't have long to ponder the situation as she lost in a straightforward 6-3, 6-1 to Olympic champion Dementieva, ranked fourth in the world.

Wellington - New Zealand's biggest city, Auckland, was warned Friday to prepare for what meteorologists said could be one of the worst subtropical storms to hit the country in a decade.

"This is no ordinary storm," a Meteorological Service spokesman said. "It's one of the largest and deepest lows we've seen for some years.

"By the time this system reaches northern New Zealand on Saturday, it is likely to have significant destructive potential. It is going to deepen rapidly and has the potential of bringing damaging winds, flooding rains, big seas and strong rip tides."

A research, which was carried out by Auckland University researchers in the collaboration with The University of Birmingham in Britain and Palacky University in Czech Republic has shown that some species of birds have the ability to identify their own eggs from the eggs of the ‘rouge’ birds.

‘Rouge’ birds are basically those birds, which lay their eggs in other bird’s nests and fool them into hatching their eggs. It includes the name of world famous cuckoo, which is quite notorious at such kind of tasks.
