Global crisis hits foreign transfers of Argentine footballers Buenos Aires  - The global economic crisis has strongly hit transfers of Argentine players abroad in the most recent window, with a 70 per cent drop in income, media reports said Wednesday.

Argentine clubs went from getting 43 million euros (55 million dollars) in the Northern Hemisphere winter of 2007-2008 to just 12.5 million euros (16 million dollars) during the same period this year, the Argentine daily Critica reported.

ArgentinaBuenos Aires  - A head-on crash between two packed buses in a western suburb of Buenos Aires killed four people dead and left dozens injured, officials said Tuesday.

One of the bus drivers and three passengers died in the accident that took place during rush hour Monday. Of the injured, 28 remained in hospital Tuesday, and three were said to be in serious condition.

Earlier reports had put the number of dead at six.

The vehicles crashed into each other at a crossing in the suburb of Lomas del Mirador, as one bus was overtaking a parked car.

CubaHavana - Cuban President Raul Castro received Argentina President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner in the first such meeting between the heads of state of both countries since 1986. The four-star general accorded Fernandez military honours in the Palace of the Revolution before the two witnessed the signing of several cooperation agreements on science, technology, energy and food.

Fernandez visited the Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology Centre outside Havana which produced vaccines, some of which are sold in Argentina.

The Amaury Sport Organisation (ASO) - in charge of the rally which takes place in Argentina and Chile - on Friday called off 324 kilometres of the stage that was originally set to take participants from La Rioja to Cordoba, in Argentina.
