RCB defeats Chennai Super Kings by 36 runs
Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) led by skipper Anil Kumble has defeated Chennai Super Kings by 36 runs in the cash rich and lucrative Indian Premier League (IPL-3) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore on Tuesday.
Chennai skipper Suresh Raina won the toss and invited RCB to bat first. RCB scored 171 runs for loss of 5 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. R Uthappa was the top scorer for RCB who scored 68 runs in just 38 balls including six huge sixes.
M Muralitharan took three wickets for Chennai while J Morkel and L Balaji picked up one wicket each.
Chasing that target of 172 runs, Chennai got to bad start as they lost their five wickets with just 74 runs on the board. Chennai managed to score only 135 runs for loss of seven wickets in 20 overs . M Hayden scored 32 runs while S Badrinath contributed 31 runs with the bat.
Vinay Kumar took four wickets for RCB while Kumble and P Kumar chipped in with one wicket each. Uthappa was declared man of the match for his brilliant batting performance.
