Rajnath Singh reviews working of Union Territories division
New Delhi, June 24 : Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh reviewed the working of the Union Territories (UT) Division here today.
After the review, Singh gave following directions to senior officials, a ministry statement said:
. It was observed that Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006 has been enacted by the Parliament of India and has been put to implementation by various State Governments except UT of Chandigarh wherein it remains to be implemented. This Act has proved to be instrumental in revival of sick, medium and small scale units. HM directed that the UT of Chandigarh may be asked to implement the Act in a quick and time-bound manner.
. There is a Heritage Conservation Committee in UT of Chandigarh which is currently undertaking the task of listing out the structures/building etc to be declared as Heritage Buildings. HM directed that it should be ensured by UT of Chandigarh that private properties do not get adversely affected by this exercise. Even if some private properties have to be declared as Heritage Structures then heritage rules should provide for adequate compensatory provisions.
.H M directed that the proposal for construction of following three bridges in Daman and Diu may be expedited:
a) Bridge over Daman Ganga River connecting Kachigam on Nani Daman and Zari on Moti Daman.( Rs. 41.77 Cr)
b) Bridge connecting Kachigam on Nani Daman and Magarwada on Moti Daman.( Rs. 62.24 Cr)
c) Cable Stayed bridge from Moti Daman Light House to Nani Daman Jetty.( Rs. 102.14 Cr)
. The Engineering College in UT of Daman and Diu should start at the earliest possible.
. The Action Plan for cleaning of Daman Ganga River should be prepared in three months' time by the Daman and Diu Administration.
. Tourism should be promoted in the UT of Andaman and Nicobar Islands; and, UT of Lakshadweep safeguarding the ecological balance and keeping in view the security aspects.
. Precarious financial position of UT of Puducherry should be closely and effectively monitored by MHA. (ANI)
