Rajasthan Government declines to talk to Gujjars in Bayana
Jaipur, June 7: The deadlock between the Rajasthan Government and the Gujjars continues with the former refusing to hold talks with the latter in Bayana in Bharatpur District.
The State Government has asked Gujjar leaders to come to Jaipur to meet their representatives over their demand for Scheduled Tribe (ST) status.
The Vasundhara Raje Government adopted this tough stand after the Gujjars had formed a 50-member representative panel this morning to hold talks in Bayana. Community leader Colonel (retired) Kirori Singh Bainsla said the talks could only be held in Bayana.
The Gujjar leadership in a letter sent to the State Government had proposed to hold the talks this afternoon in Bayana.
On Friday, they had decided to discuss the matter with the State Government after top community leaders had met. (ANI)
