Prince Charles for reintroducing traditional teaching

London, November 14: Prince Charles has said that there is a need for the reintroduction of traditional teaching methods to help children understand the world in a better manner.

He insists that teachers must be inspired to "recapture some of the timeless principles of teaching" to deal with students’ declining knowledge of subjects like English, history and science.

Charles’ comments came as his Teaching Institute educational charity launched a quality "kite mark" for secondary schools at Clarence House on Tuesday. The logo will be available for use by state schools inspected by the institute.

He believes that many educational programmes "failed to meet their targets" because they did not focus enough on classroom teaching.

"I happen to believe there is a desperate need to re-inspire teachers, to encourage the teaching of bodies of knowledge and to recapture some of the timeless principles of teaching which are so essential to the proper appreciation of the world we inhabit, " the Telegraph quoted him as saying.
