Premier Brumby Announces 941 Additional Hospital beds if Re-elected
In a competition, which has just got a little exaggerated, Premier John Brumby has promised to provide an extra 941 hospital beds if he is re-elected as the Premier of Victoria. The announcement by Mr. Brumby has come after leader of the Opposition Ted Baillieu had previously promised to deliver 800 beds.
The war of beds has taken this new development as the problem of health services in the state has become a key issue in the current electoral campaign. According to the promise made by Premier Brumby, the beds would be delivered, within a period of 4 years.
The announcement regarding the highest amount ever paid for an investment in a hospital in Victoria was made by the premier at the Frankston Hospital today. He had further stated that the amount of money to be used for increasing the number of beds would be raised from state and national funds.
Prior to the commitment made for beds, Mr. Brumby has already promised $250 million for the Monash Children's Centre.
Mr. Brumby has announced that the Government was already working with the health service to submit an application for a grant of $1.8 billion from the Health and Hospitals Fund. He added that he was confident that the Commonwealth would approve of the grants and all the projects will take off in a short span of time.
