Jodhpur, Oct 1 : One day after nearly 150 people were killed in the stampede at the Chamunda Devi temple in Jodhpur, the shrine was today opened for devotees but few people turned up.

Compared to the thousands who had gathered to offer prayers at the temple on the first day of Navaratri festival on Tuesday, their number on Wednesday morning was reduced to just a few, officials said.

"The devout are visiting the temple but it is different from what it was yesterday before the tragedy struck. It was like a fair and now is deserted," they said.

Jaipur, June 16 : Gujjar leader Col (R) Kirori Singh Bhainsla has reached Jaipur, but is yet to arrive at the venue where he is slated to hold talks with Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje Scindia over his community's demand for ST status.

The talks between the duo are expected to take place during the second half of the day. An agreement is expected to be reached today between Bhainsla and the Rajasthan Government, even as the former agreed to hold talks after nearly one-month-long of deadlock.

Jaipur, June 7: The deadlock between the Rajasthan Government and the Gujjars continues with the former refusing to hold talks with the latter in Bayana in Bharatpur District.

The State Government has asked Gujjar leaders to come to Jaipur to meet their representatives over their demand for Scheduled Tribe (ST) status.

The Vasundhara Raje Government adopted this tough stand after the Gujjars had formed a 50-member representative panel this morning to hold talks in Bayana. Community leader Colonel (retired) Kirori Singh Bainsla said the talks could only be held in Bayana.
