Shivraj Patil reviews Delhi security after blasts

Union Home Minister Shivraj PatilNew Delhi, Sept 19: Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil on Friday reviewed the security of the national capital in the wake of Saturday's blasts.

The meeting, which was held at Patil's official residence, was attended by Lieutenant Governor Tejinder Khanna, Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit and City Police Commissioner Y S Dadhwal.

According to sources, discussion was held on Thursday's Cabinet decision to strengthen Delhi Police and security of Connaught Place.

Patil says will quit if Congress party desires

Shivraj Patil New Delhi, Sept 16 : Home Minister Shivraj Patil has said that he will quit from office if the Congress leadership desires.

Patil, who is under attack over his handling of internal security, said that there is no point staying on in a post if the leadership was not with him.

Patil said, "I am not in much demand. I am here just because of them (leadership).

"I have no group either. It''s only that the leadership supports me that I continue to stay here," he said to a TV news channel.

Union Home Minister Shivraj PatilNew Delhi, Sept 15 : Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil will inaugurate a two-day ''''International Seminar on Terrorism'''' here today.

The seminar is being organised by the Asia Pacific chapter of the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP). India presently chairs the Asia Pacific World Regional Office of the IACP, and in that capacity, is the organiser of the seminar.

The seminar is aimed at providing an interactive platform for sharing of expertise and experience between India and other countries, which are similarly affected, by militancy and terrorism.

During his visit, Patil will meet state officials at a high-level meeting and will take stock of the flood situation. The government of Assam will also make a detailed presentation on the latest flood damages to the Home Minister.
