Prachanda meets kin of Ramhari Shrestha killed by Maoists

Kathmanu, PrachandaMay 22: Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) Chairman Prachanda today met wife and brother of Ramhari Shrestha who was killed by the Maoist Peoples' Liberation Army (PLA) in captivity.

According to Nepalnews, Prachanda invited Shrestha's wife Ramila and brother Gyan Kumar Shrestha for talks at a hotel in Thamel.

According to sources, Prachanda assured them that the party would thoroughly probe the killing of Shrestha. He also promised to take initiative to form high level investigation commission from Government level.

Prachanda holds talks with UML leaders

Kathmandu, PrachandaMay 21: Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) Chairman Prachanda has held discussions with Unified Marxist Leninist (UML) leaders with the aim of breaking the political deadlock in Nepal.

According to Nepalnews, Prachanda said that he held positive discussions on the issues of republic implementation, power sharing, constitutional amendment and the killing of Ramhari Shrestha, a resident of Koteshwore, by Maoist cadres.

Meanwhile, UML General Secretary Jhalnath Khanal said that they had held extensive discussions on the continued attacks by Maoists against workers of other parties.

Prachanda directs Maoist youth to avoid intimidation

Kathmandu, May 6 : Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) Chairman PrachandaCommunist Party of Nepal (Maoist) Chairman Prachanda has directed Young Communist League (YCL) cadres to avoid intimidation and attacks against rival political parties in Nepal.

Addressing a YCL meeting in Balaju, Prachanda cautioned YCL cadres that their activities could tarnish the image of the entire party.

Republic will be implemented in next few days: Prachanda

PrachandaKathmandu, May 3 : Communist Party of Nepal-Maoist (CPN-M) Chairman Prachanda on Saturday said that implementation of republic will be carried out in the next few days stating that the 60 year long struggle by the Nepali public has finally succeeded.

Prachanda also remarked that the country will set an example by formulating ‘the best constitution in the world’ under Maoist leadership.

He said many challenges lie ahead in the formulation of a new constitution and many feudal elements might create obstacles and everyone should be careful on the issue.

US envoy meets Prachanda

US envoy meets PrachandaKathmandu, May 2 : U. S. Ambassador Nancy Powell met with Maoist chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal (Prachanda) on Thursday.

Both reportedly discussed the outcome of the April 10 elections, CPN-M plans for the Constituent Assembly, and the future of US-Nepal relations.

The meeting occurred in advance of Powell's return to the United States for consultations on US-Nepal relations. She is leaving Nepal on Friday.

Prachanda rests after electionsKathmandu, Apr 26 : After engaging in a hectic schedule of political parleys and election campaigning, Communist Party of Nepal-Maoist (CPN-M) Chairman Prachanda is relaxing at the Everest Panorama Resort in Daman.

“He must be here to spend quality time with his family, and of course, to unwind and relax from his busy political life,” Kantipur quoted a Prachanda’s security guard, as saying.

Except for family and a handful of Maoist activists, no one at the resort is being allowed to meet Prachanda.
