Jyoti Basu says it will be tough for Third Front to win pollsKolkata, Mar 18: CPM veteran Jyoti Basu has said that it would be tough for the ''Third Front'' to win the general polls and form a government.

"It will be tough for the ''Third Front'' to form the Central Government, as far as my knowledge is concerned," said Basu.

However, Basu said that the Communists could be part of government if the front came to power.

Jyoti Basu’Kolkata, Sept 19 : Former West Bengal Chief Minister Jyoti Basu on Friday requested the Singur protesters, who have been refusing to accept the land compensation package offered by the State Government, to accept it and allow resumption of work at the TATA Motors’ Nano car plant.

State Secretary of the Communist Party of India (Marxists) Biman Bose briefed Basu about the party’s state secretariat meeting earlier in the day at the party office.

Jyoti BasuKolkata, Sept 10 : Doctors attending on former West Bengal Chief Minister Jyoti Basu, who was admitted to a nursing home on Sunday, said on Wednesday he was examined by the medical board and also an eminent neurosurgeon.

Basu had suffered a head injury after falingl at his Indira Bhavan residence on Friday. He was hospitalised with a blood clot in his brain.

His condition is stable and keeping well. He had a normal diet," a medical bulletin issued by the hospital said.
