A video showing Phoenix jumping into the crowd to attack a heckler at the gig is said to be a total fake, which has been staged for Casey Affleck's documentary on the actor's new career as a rapper.

The fight took place during his performance at a Belvedere IX party at Liv nightclub.

Phoenix, 34, is said to have confronted the man mid-way through his performance.

"We have a f***ing b**** in the audience," the Sun quoted him as saying.

"I''ve got 1million dollars in the bank. What have you got b****?" he said while nodding his head and rapping to a beat.

London, Feb 13 : Puerto Rican actor turned rapper Joaquin Phoenix was left annoyed after his meeting with talk show host David Letterman, who kept on asking him about his new looks and career.

Letterman grilled Phoenix, who had on dark glasses and chewed gum as he promoted his movie Two Lovers, about the facial beard and his new career on the Letterman''s Late Show on February 11.

But he did not get any response from the actor, who was uncooperative and kept on mumbling one-word answers, and who got annoyed after the audience began to laugh when the topic turned to his musical career.

"Is this a joke? What (drug) do you have them on? What do you gas them up with?" the Daily Star quoted Phoenix as saying.
