Karachi, Jan 30 : Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Ijaz Butt will defend the team's case over the infamous Oval Test during the International Cricket Council (ICC) meeting in Perth, with the support of legal experts opinion.

A top PCB official said on Thursday that Butt has gone to the Western Australian city with two written legal opinions in his briefcase that should help him shoot down the proposal of once again reversing The Oval Test result.

"Our stance on The Oval Test result is clear," said Saleem Altaf, PCB's Chief Operating Officer.

"We believe that the ICC has taken a good decision by declaring the result as a draw and that there is no need to reverse it again," The News quoted him, as saying.

Altaf said the PCB chief would once again underline that stance during the ICC Executive Board meetings getting underway in Perth from January 31.

He said that Butt has taken two legal opinions with him aimed at giving him ample expert advice on the controversial subject.

The Oval Test result is one of the items on the ICC agenda.

It is a sensitive issue for Pakistan, which became the first cricket nation to `forfeit' a match in Test history in the summer of 2006.

Controversial Australian umpire Darrell Hair and Billy Doctrove awarded the fourth Test between Pakistan and England in August 2006 to the home team after the tourists refused to take the field after tea on the fourth day to protest against Hair's decision to award five penalty points against them over alleged ball-tampering.

However, an ICC probe later cleared Pakistan of ball-tampering charges though ICC suspended their captain Inzamam-ul-Haq over his role in the Oval Test fiasco.

After intense lobbying by the PCB, the ICC top bosses voted in favour of reversing the result to a draw last year.

After the ICC moot, Butt will hold meetings with top Cricket Australia officials to confirm Australia's proposed tour of Pakistan in April to play a one-day series. (ANI)
