Pawar to give away 14th Rajiv Gandhi National Quality Awards on April 10
New Delhi, Apr 8 : The Union Minister of Agriculture, Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Sharad Pawar will give away the 14th Rajiv Gandhi National Quality Awards for the year 2007 on April 10.
Five enterprises, including two in the small-scale sector have been selected for the awards.
The Rajiv Gandhi National Awards have been established to give special recognition to manufacturing and service sector organizations considered to be leaders of quality movement in India.
The five national awards include one award each for large-scale and small-scale companies in the manufacturing and service sectors, and one 'best of all' award.
The awards are 'Best of all Award' - Steel Authority of India Limited - Bokaro Steel Plant, Bokaro; Large Scale Manufacturing Industry - Tata Motors Limited - Commercial Vehicle Business Unit - Pune Plant, Pune; Large Scale Service Industry - Tata Ryerson Limited, Jamshedpur; Small Scale Manufacturing Industry - T. V. Super Filter Industries, Jammu and Small Scale Service Industry - Wealthmax Enterprises Management Private Limited, Bengaluru.
In addition to these awards, sixteen organizations have been selected for commendation certificates under various categories, including in the large scale and small scale manufacturing mediums.
Given annually by the Bureau of Indian Standards, these awards were instituted in 1991. The awards have been designed in line with similar awards in developed countries, such as the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award in USA, the Deming Prize in Japan and the European Quality Award. (ANI)
