Oxford & Cambridge Lectures Through iTunes
In a unique move, lectures by well known academics would be made
available through Apple’s iTunes by the universities of Oxford and Cambridge.
Nearly 150 hours of free video and audio podcasts of lectures and ideas from the leading thinkers of the world, will be published by Oxford.
One can now access the education downloads, which include a film about the University of Oxford's fundraising campaign "Oxford Thinking" that features ex-Python and seasoned traveller Michael Palin.
The highlights of Oxford lecture and interview will give the users vital information as it contains the former Chief Economist of the World Bank Professor Joseph Stiglitz discussing about the global financial crisis, Dr Craig Venter implanting knowledge on genomics, Sir Nicholas Stern on the economics of climate change, and Professor Julian Savulescu on ethics.
Dr John Hood, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Oxford reported, “We hope that this service will make Oxford’s diverse range of audio and video material more widely accessible to applicants, alumni, supporters of the University, and the intellectually curious.”
On the other hand, Cambridge University is also providing a range of informational material through iTunes under the tag of “world-leading experts.” The University will provide more than 300 podcasts for free download.
The users can also acquire the information about the history of the Cambridge University. Interviews with some of Cambridge's Nobel prize winners and an exploration of the university's codebreaking efforts during World War II would be other highlights of thse podcasts.
