ONGC adds 83 million tonnes of oil and gas reserves in this year

ONGCState-owned Oil and Natural Gas Corp (ONGC) has announced that it has added 83 million tonnes of oil and gas reserves in the 2009-10 fiscal years. This has been the highest in two decades although the production of the company was lower than that of the target.

The company has informed to the media that the parent as well the joint ventured companies like Crain India have accelerated the ultimate reserve.

The company has managed to reserve around 87.37 million tonnes of oil and oil equivalent gas. Earlier it was targeted that there may be a reserve of 76.28 million tonnes but now it has up beaten this figure as well. This has been the highest ever ultimate reserve in the last 20 years.

As per the report the reserve had gone up due to the Kasomarigaon discovery in the state of Assam. South Mahadevpatnam and Pennugonda in KG onland, GK-28-1 in Kutch offshore and PER-1 in Mumbai offshore have been few other resources of the company.
