Now Alto up for a makeover

Now Alto up for a makeoverAfter the company has recently launched the new WagonR in the Indian market, it is believed that the new version of the Alto is up on the cards of Maruti Suzuki. In fact, it is believed that after Maruti 800 has been phased out from the top 13 cities in the country following the new emission norms that kicked in April, it is indeed a necessity for the company to launch a new version of the Alto.

The decade old Alto received a facelift in 2005 and it sells close to 20,000 units in the Indian Market on an average, making it the largest selling passenger car in the Indian market.

According to the Chairman of Maruti Suzuki R. C. Bhargava, the Company will do a similar act what it did to the WagonR. In the case of WagonR, Maruti launched the product with the new engine, transmission and suspension and the same is expected to be with the Alto.

It is believed that the aggressive approach is an answer to the increasing competition in the small car segment and the company will be launching more products in the Indian market to maintain its leadership in the Indian passenger car market.
