Nordic foreign ministers condemn embassy bombing in Pakistan

Jonas Gahr StoreOslo/Stockholm - The foreign ministers of Norway and Sweden Monday condemned the bombing of the Danish embassy in Pakistan that claimed several lives.

"This is a completely unacceptable act of violence that is deeply tragic," Norwegian Foreign Minister Jonas Gahr Store told Norwegian news agency NTB.

At a news conference, Store declined to speculate on who could be behind the bombing.

The Norwegian embassy, which is just a few hundred metres from the Danish embassy, has been closed and several windows were destroyed in the blast. The staff have been relocated to other premises, Store said.

In Stockholm, Swedish Foreign Minister Carl Bildt said the attack on the Danish embassy was "serious and completely unacceptable."

The bombing "is a further increase of the violence in Pakistan," Bildt said, adding there was a need to "continue the international fight against terror in all its forms." (dpa)
