Nomura to buy Lehman’s India operations

Nomura Holdings is ready to buy the Indian operations of the bankrupt US Nomura to buy Lehman’s India operations bank, Lehman Brothers. Nomura Holdings is a leading financial institution of Japan. The decision would also prove good for the employees of bank as it is expected to retain nearly 2,000 strong workforces. 

It is recalled that the US investment bank, Lehman Brothers field a bankruptcy protection before the stock regulator of United State. Its North American operations were already acquired by British banking major Barclays.

Nomura would acquire Lehman Brothers’ back-office duties, R and D activities and information technology development wing. It has also decided to add further investment in the investment bank as it has skilled work force. 

The Mumbai BPO of Lehman Brothers have a strong work force and it is a cheer time for them as the deal has make their job secure. Nomura is also expected to maintain the bonus payment for the Powai employees whose strength is about 2,200 employees in KPO and BPO operations.
