India signs Financing Agreement with World Bank for USD 201.50 Million

New Delhi [India], Feb. 2 : Aiming to enhance quality and improve efficiency of the Engineering Education System, a Financing Agreement for IDA credit of USD 201.50 Million was signed with World Bank for the 'Third Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme' (TEQIP III) on Wednesday.

The Agreement was signed by Raj Kumar, Joint Secretary, Department of Economic Affairs, on behalf of the Government of India and Junaid Kamal Ahmad, Country Director, World Bank (India) on behalf of World Bank.

The objective of the agreement is to improve the Engineering Education sector in Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan, along with eight North Eastern States and Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

Union Budget 2017-18 to include more incentives for NPS subscribers

New Delhi [India], Feb. 2 : Aiming to provide further incentives to the National Pension System (NPS) subscribers, new provisions were introduced in the Finance Bill 2017 in Parliament on Thursday.

The existing provision of Section 10 (12A)of the Income Tax Act, 1961, provides that payment from NPS to a subscriber on closure of his account or opting out shall be exempt up to 40 percent of total corpus at the time of withdrawal .

The amount utilised for purchase of annuity is also tax exempt. At the time of normal exit, 40 percent of the total corpus is mandatorily required to be purchased for annuity. The subscriber has the option to use higher amount for purchase of annuity.

JGC, NEC collaborate for efficient plant operations using AI and IoT

New Delhi [India], Feb. 2 : JGC Corporation and NEC Corporation announced their cooperation in the provision of data analysis services for plant operations using AI (Artificial Intelligence) and IoT (Internet of Things) technologies.

The cooperation, which the two companies agreed to in a memorandum concluded in November 2016, involves joint development of systems that detect signs of abnormalities in plant operations and provide related services for plants serving the oil refinement, chemical, LNG (liquefied natural gas) and gas, power, resource development, and other fields.
