New York, Sep 7 - Salman Khan's latest Bollywood blockbuster "Bodyguard" has scored a gigantic opening in North America, raking in an astounding $1.4 million over its six-day debut period.

In less than one week, the Reliance Entertainment release has already surpassed the entire lifetime gross of his recent blockbuster hit "Dabangg" and has beaten the combined totals for his films "Ready" and "Wanted".

Mumbai, Sep 7 - A benchmark index for the Indian equities markets soared past 17,000-point mark Wednesday and was trading with gain of over one percent in the afternoon session, on the back of positive cues from Asian peers.

The 30-scrip sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 16,922.31 points, was trading at 17,059.77 points around 12 noon, up 1.17 percent or 196.96 points from the previous close at 16,862.81 points.

Washington, Sept 7 : Remembering the past in a negative way may be harmful to your health, according to a new study.

A study by the University of Granada reports that people's attitude to past events, present experiences or future expectations, influences their perception of health and their quality of life.

"We have observed that when people are negative about past events in their life, they also have a pessimist or fatalistic attitude towards current events," said Cristian Oyanadel, UGR researcher and co-author of the study.

Chennai, Sep 7 - The workers' strike at auto component manufacturer Comstar Automotive Technologies continued for the 28th day Wednesday with the management and the workers declining to budge from their stated positions.

"However, one positive development is that the management representatives attended the last two conciliation meetings Sep 5 and 6 under the government's pressure," Comstar Automotive Technologies Employees' Union general secretary D. Natarajan told IANS.
