Demonetisation crunch: PM Modi calls on nation to 'embrace' digital banking

New Delhi [India], Nov. 27 : In the wake of the cash cruch being experienced across the nation following demonetisation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday called on the nation, especially the youth, to embrace digital baking.

"Time has come for everyone, particularly my young friends, to embrace e-banking, mobile banking & more such technology," the Prime Minister tweeted ahead of his Mann ki Baat address.

However, the Opposition has been resolute on its stand that the poor and rural population are not tech savy, which is why digital banking is not a viable option for them, adding that those living in regions mostly comprising of villages do not even have bank accounts.

Union Law Minister working as BJP general secretary: Veerappa Moily

Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], Nov.27 : Supporting Supreme Court Chief Justice T.S. Thakur's statement on delays in the appointment of judges, former law minister Veerappa Moily on Sunday described as unprecedented that over 500 positions of judges are lying vacant in various high courts across the country.

Targetting Union Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, Moily said the former is not working as a law minister but as a general secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

"It is the law minister's business to ensure that vacant posts are filled. He must prevail upon the Prime Minister and the Cabinet," Moily told ANI.

'Barney Miller' star Ron Glass dies at 71

London [USA], Nov. 27 : Veteran TV actor Ron Glass, who is best known for his role in ' Barney Miller' sitcom from 1975 and as the spiritual Shepherd Derrial Book in ' Firefly', died on November 25 aged 71.

The Indiana-born performer, who starred in countless television shows throughout his career - including 'Friends', ' Star Trek' and 'CSI', is thought to have passed away peacefully in his Los Angeles home, reports the Mirror.

As for reasons of the 'Serenity' star's death, there is speculation that he was suffering from respiratory problems.

Naturally, the news has shocked members of the Buddhist community in California, of which he was a prominent figure.

PV Sindhu to take on Taiwan's Tai Tzu Ying in Hong Kong Open final

Also, the team seems to have finally found or made the perfect match for droid C-3PO by shining the spotlight on a new droid K-2SO in the new trailer for 'Rogue One: A Star Wars Story'.

The human-size droid, voiced by Alan Tudyk, is an Imperial security droid reprogrammed to serve the Rebel Alliance. He is touted for his ability to blend in at Imperial installations and outposts.

The sneak peak reveals that K-2SO has the potential to kill a group of Stormtroopers with just a single blast.

New Pak Army Chief can either be friend to India or continue policies: Ranjeet Rai

New Delhi [India], Nov. 27 : Responding to the appointment of Lt. Gen. Qamar Javed Bajwa as the new Pakistan Army Chief, Defence Expert Ranjeet Rai has said that the former can either be a friend to India by halting terror and ceasefire violations or he can pursue anti-India policies like his predecessors.

Rai told ANI that Lt Gen Bajwa's appointment comes at a crucial time when relations between India and Pakistan are tense and said, "He (Bajwa) takes over when a mortar war is going on between India and Pakistan along the international border and along the LoC. Now, he has two options, he can either stop terrorism or control the mortar firing from Pakistan or will he continue the old army chief's policies."
