Toyota's March sales up 41 percentNew Delhi, April 1 : Japanese automobile major Toyota's Indian subsidiary Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) Friday reported an increase of 41 percent in sales for March, at 9,726 units, as compared to the same period last year.

"We have sold 9,726 units last month, our highest ever sales," said Sandeep Singh, deputy managing director of marketing.

According to the company, the increase in sales was attributed to the success of the company's entry-level sedan Etios which sold 3,257 units in March. The car has an order booking of 29,796 units so far.

Nissan, Ford post higher sales in March

Nissan Motors, FordChennai, April 1 : The Indian subsidiary of Japanese auto major Nissan Motor Company closed March with a sales of 2,101 units up from 89 units sold during the comparable month the previous year.

Nissan Motor India sold 2,060 units of its compact car Micra last Month, up from 2,030 units sold in February this year, a company statement said.

The sales of its luxury sedan Teana and sports utility vehicle (SUV) X-Trail went down last month to 11 units and 29 units respectively from 21 and 68 units sold during March 2010.

The company also sold one unit of its sports car Nissan 370Z in March, the statement added.

The Sensex rose to an intra-day high of 19,562.55 points and fell to a low of 19,382.35 points.
