SC to continue its hearing on 1995 Hindutva verdict

New Delhi [India], Oct. 26 : The Supreme Court will today continue its hearing on the Hindutva case which deals with electoral malpractices arising out of its 1995 judgment.

During the hearing by the seven judges' Constitutional bench, the apex court on Tuesday said it won't reconsider 1995 judgment which defined Hindutva as "a way of life and not a religion."

A seven-judge constitution bench, headed by Chief Justice T S Thakur, said the court will not go into the larger debate as to what is Hindutva or what its meaning is and will not reconsider the 1995 judgment.

BJP best option for UP, not weak SP or BSP

New Delhi [India], Oct. 26 : The president of the Uttar Pradesh unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Keshav Prasad Maurya, on Wednesday said both the Samajwadi Party (SP) and the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) are politically weaker than the BJP, and if the elections take place today, they would suffer crushing defeats.

"I believe that both the SP and the BSP are weaker than the BJP and a delay in the election is only harming the state. Neither the SP nor the BSP cares for the state; they have only plundered it after coming to power, which the people of the state understand very well. If elections take place today, then both the SP and the BSP will be defeated badly," Maurya told ANI.
