Karachi, Dec. 15 : Pakistan's chief cricket selector and former leg spinner Abdul Qadir has said that India should tour his country and not deprive cricket fans across the globe of an enthralling contest.

Qadir told reporters here at the National Stadium on the sidelined of the Pentangular One-day Championship that no matches in international cricket ignite more passion and emotions than the Pakistan-India encounters.

"It's for the sake of cricket that I hope India will tour Pakistan to play what is a very important series," said Qadir. "It's the one series that is passionately followed by millions of fans around the world and should not be cancelled," he added.

India was scheduled to undertake a six-week-long tour of Pakistan from January 4 to play three Tests, five One-day Internationals and a Twenty20 International.

But the tour is in serious doubt after the Indian government blamed Pakistan for last month's terror attacks in Mumbai that left 172 people dead, reports the Daily Times.

Qadir, 53, said that if India decide against coming here then they should invite Pakistan or play the series at some neutral venues.

The former spinner, who played 67 Tests for Pakistan in the 1970s and 80s and took 236 wickets, said that the series will produce some tough matches if it takes place according to schedule. (ANI)
