Adani Group Introduces Post Graduate Programme in Infrastructure Development
The Adnani Group has announced the launch of the Adani Institute of Infrastructure Management (AIIM) at Navrangpura in Ahmedabad. The institute takes off its academic activities with a one-year (fulltime) residential Post Graduate Programme in Infrastructure Development (PGPIM) for executives.
The course begins in September 2009, with minimum age for the candidates being 25 years; a bachelor's degree in any discipline and some relevant work experience being the entrance requirements. Admissions will be through G-MAT and will start in April 2009. Even candidates who have appeared for CAT after January 1, 2006 will be permissible. The programme fee for the inaugural batch has been fixed at Rs 10 lakh apart from Rs 2.25 lakh for an international visit that is part of the curriculum.
Bakul Dholakia, Vice-Chairman/Director, AIIM said, "The basic constraint facing the infrastructure industry currently is lack of skilled manpower. Through this course, we intend to fill that gap by providing quality education and research in the field of infrastructure." PGPIM will later follow specialised courses in infrastructure related sectors like transport, energy and real estate & Special Economic Zones (SEZs). The institute will be run by a set of visiting faculty to begin with, while permanent faculty members will be recruited after two years.
Furthermore, Dholakia stated, " We are also going to offer short duration programmes later on for working professionals. The courses will be in areas like port management, airport management, power plant management, railway management and roadway management.
