Chaudhry Aitzaz Ahsan to sue Musharraf for two billion rupees

Lahore, Dec 21: Pakistan’s Supreme Court Bar Association President Chaudhry Aitzaz AhsanPakistan’s Supreme Court Bar Association President Chaudhry Aitzaz Ahsan has said that he would file a damages suit of Rs two billion against President Pervez Musharraf for defaming the judiciary by claiming it had hatched a conspiracy against the government.

He added that the amount would be recovered after forcing him (Musharraf) to sell all his national and international assets.

Aitzaz said that he would drive the ‘judicial bus’ throughout the country if the upcoming Parliament failed to restore the deposed judiciary after three weeks in office.

Talking to reporters after meeting several deposed Lahore High Court and Supreme Court judges in Lahore, Aitzaz said that he would take the ‘bus’ to every bar in the country to mobilise the lawyers against the government.

Aitzaz told the judges that they had made the country proud by not taking oath under the Provisional Constitution Order.

Two of the deposed judges told Aitzaz that they were proud to be members of the same profession as him.

He said that the lawyers would compel Army chief Ashfaq Kiyani to undo all the wrongs of his predecessor.

Aitzaz said that no one, not even Benazir Bhutto, had questioned him on his decision to boycott the polls.

"The Pakistan People’s Party is my family. I cannot even for a minute consider leaving it, " the Daily Times quoted him, as saying. (ANI)
