Tuesday sees another painful session on Baltic markets
Riga - Prices tumbled again on Baltic stock markets Tuesday with the Baltic Benchmark Index (BBI), combining data from the Tallinn, Riga and Vilnius exchanges, closing down 3.2 per cent at 270.22.
The NASDAQ OMX Tallinn exchange in Estonia fell 3.22 per cent, the Vilnius exchange in Lithuania slipped 2.74 per cent and the Riga exchange in Latvia eased by 1.37 per cent.
Lithuanian bank Snoras was among the big losers for the second straight day. On Tuesday its share price fell 11.29 per cent after experiencing a similar fall on Monday.
Snoras has an 83 per cent stake in another Baltic bank, Latvijas Krajbanka, which also saw its share price drop, though by a more modest 6.25 per cent.
Lithuanian banks Ukio Bankas also endured a double-digit drop as fears persist that more government bail-outs might be needed following the Latvian government's dramatic rescue of Parex Bank oer recent days. (dpa)
