On weekend dinner Nawaz urged Zardari to restore SC judgesIslamabad, Nov 11: During his meeting with Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari over dinner last Saturday, PML-N leader and former premier Nawaz Sharif reportedly urged him to take certain “tangible” measures like repealing the 17th Amendment, restoring the deposed Supreme Court judges and ensuring sovereignty of parliament and its decisions.

Talking to newsmen last evening, Nawaz Sharif said he also asked Zardari to immediately restore the deposed judges, as it was critical to ensure the rule of law, especially to nullify the “unlawful, unconstitutional, unjustified and immoral act of the dictator”.

Nawaz said that Zardari must fulfil his promises.

“I have no grudge whatsoever against the government but I am disappointed that the promises made with us were not kept,” The News quoted him as saying.

The PML-N leader also said that the Government should avoid unnecessary delay in executing the resolution of the in-camera joint session of the Parliament, which, he said, was a milestone in itself and was undoubtedly indispensable to eradicate the root causes of militancy and terrorism.

Answering a question regarding his meeting with Zardari, Nawaz Sharif said he cherished such gestures of the President and reiterated his principle stance that the PML-N would carry out its constructive role within the Parliament and outside it, and whenever the party would be asked to play any role for the sake of Pakistan and its prosperity.

He said the country was suffering from enormous problems due to former president’s Pervez Musharraf’s dictatorial policies “which needed to be set aside without any further delay”.

“Continuation of such policies was nothing but to disgrace the mandate of the people of Pakistan which they had bequeathed towards the genuine political forces,” Nawaz added. (ANI)
