Rahul Gandhi Arms Up Against POTA
The Dynamic young General Secretary of the Congress Party, Mr. Rahul Gandhi declared that Pota was a failed law and there was need to impose some stringent laws. He further added that we almost lost our Prime minister and Home Minister to the attack on Parliament.
The law which was in use could not draw major results. Ridiculing the demand of BJP to put POTA into statute, the Prime Minister's remarked that the Government was actively considering legislation to further strength the law in line with the global consensus on the fight against terrorism was also brought to light.
The National Security Advisor M K Narayan in a letter to the Home Ministry had asked for a MCOCA-type Law for Gujarat. Sharad Pawar backed this move in a recent cabinet meeting.
However, the Home Minister Shivraj Patil does not see the need for a new law.Kapil Sibal and P R Dasmunsi second the belief. The Home Ministry is contemplating the strengthening of the 'Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act 2004.
Meanwhile Mr. Rahul Gandhi who is hitting headlines due to his Punjab visit has satisfied all by saying, the question of him being PM is an open and not closed chapter .But now to quote Mr. Gandhi "My Prime Minister is Manmohan Singhji and I fully support him ...Inflation is coming down ..India is growing at a fast rate along with China".
