Cheats and fraudsters prosper in Hong Kong's "amoral" schools
Hong Kong - One in four Hong Kong students are prepared to forge their parents' signatures on report cards and one in six are happy to cheat in exams, a survey found Tuesday.
The survey of more than 3,000 primary and secondary school pupils found that 65 per cent of students would not report cheating in exams to teachers even if they witnessed it.
Seventeen per cent of students said they illegally photocopy text books while a similar percentage are prepared to circulate personal information of classmates over the internet.
Thirty per cent said they copy from classmates if they forget to do their homework and a similar percentage said they used friends to jump queues.
The survey was carried out by the Hong Kong Women Teachers' Organization which said parents needed to take more responsibility for teaching their children the difference between right and wrong. (dpa)
