Chinese solar product maker LDK Solar Co. has signed a five-year contract to supply multicrystailine solar wafers to India-based XL Telecom & Energy Ltd.

Under the terms of the agreement, LDK Solar will deliver approximately 300 MW of multicrystalline silicon solar wafers to XL Telecom & Energy Ltd over a five-year period. The contract will commence in the first quarter of 2009 and will extend through 2013.

XL Telecom will make a down payment representing a portion of the contract value to LDK Solar. However, the financial details of the deal were not disclosed.

LDK Solar is a manufacturer of multicrystalline solar wafers that are used to produce solar cells, which are devices capable of converting sunlight into electricity. The company sells these wafers globally to manufacturers of photovoltaic products, including solar cells and solar modules.
