A Mini Desktop, which perfectly fits the demands of today, has been launched by the Round-Rock-based computer maker Dell. The name of the desktop is the Studio Hybrid, which is not only ultra small but also ultra green. The new system, according to the company would not only consume 705 less power than a standard tower desktop, but also comes with the packaging, 95% of which is recyclable.

Another feature of the Studio Hybrid is that it is 80% smaller than a standard tower desktop. The desktop is designed on an Intel platform and is powered by Pentium dual-core and Core 2 Duo processors. It supports a RAM of 4GB and it can additionally be equipped with 320 GB hard drives.

The graphic solution is based on Intel  Integrated Graphics Media Accelerator X3100 and as optical drive Dell offers 8X Slot Load CD/DVD Writer (DVD+/-RW) or 6X Slot Load Blu-ray/CD/DVD Combo Drive.

Five USB 2.0 compliant ports, an IEEE1394a port (4-pin), a HDMI video connector and a DVI video connector are other exclusive features of the Studio Hybrid.

The system is delivered with Windows Vista Basic, Premium or Ultimate. It also has options for built-in draft 802.11n Wi-Fi, a TV tuner, or a wireless keyboard and mouse.

Dell intends to charge US$499 for the basic configuration, nut the desktop can be acquired also with a monitor for the prices starting with $689.

The Hybrid will be available in six colors could be bought through retailers later this year. The desktop will also give its users the advantage of user-changeable color panels to match any design scheme.

The Hybrid has a length of 196.5mm (with sleeve), height: 71.5mm (with sleeve) and depth: 211.5mm (with sleeve). It weighs 2.18kg (with stand). Its only drawback seems to be the impossibility to add a better graphic card, but it can be a nice desktop for an office space.
