Islamabad, July 3 : Pak govt to continue Pervez Musharraf’s madrassa reform policyThe PPP-led coalition government in Pakistan has said that it would continue President Pervez Musharraf’s madrassas’ reform policy.

Sources in the country’s Ministry of Religious Affairs said last evening that the federal government had agreed to follow the previous government’s policies, including a change in syllabus and streamlining of all religious madrassas, and that the prime minister had sought the registration and reforms record of madrassas, reported the Daily Times.

Religious Affairs Adviser Hamid Saeed Kazmi has been assigned to hold meetings with clerics of various schools of thought for the promotion of moderation.

Last year, Musharraf had begun a campaign to ensure that all madarassas in the country were registered with the federal government, and those which resisted being registered were dealt with a strict action. (ANI)
