More than one in three Hong Kong office workers suffers from stress
Hong Kong - One in four office workers in Hong Kong suffer from depression and more than a third feel stressed, according to a survey Saturday.
The study found that 29 per cent of office workers in the notoriously workaholic city feel anxious while white collar workers in general are more stressed than their counterparts in Australia and Britain.
Men fret more in the workplace than women in Hong Kong, with 28 per cent suffering from depression and 37 per cent from stress while 22 per cent of women are depressed and 33 per cent stressed.
More than 1,700 office workers were interviewed over a two-year period for the survey by the Hong Kong-based Whole Person Development Institute.
Hong Kong, a wealthy former British colony with a population of 6.9 million, has high suicide rates in global terms although levels have fallen since 2003 as the city's economy has prospered. (dpa)
