Kathmandu, June 4 : Communist Party of Nepal-Maoist (CPN-M) Chairman Prachanda met Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala to renew his warning to launch street protest if a clear political understanding to transfer power to the Maoists does not evolve.

During the meeting, Prachanda stressed that the deadlock must be resolved by Thursday and urged the Prime Minister to call a meeting of the Seven-Party Alliance.

In response, Koirala said that the Maoists, as the largest party in the Constituent Assembly (CA), should take the initiative to form a new government by taking other parties into confidence.

However, the two sides could not arrive at any understanding at the meeting.

Meanwhile, Nepali Congress has asked the party workers and general people to be ready for struggle against what it called as the possibility of totalitarianism.

Nepali Congress Vice President, Prakash Man Singh informed that they will make their position regarding the Maoists’ totalitarian tendencies public at mass meeting on June 8.

The Nepali Congress and the Maoists are at odds over the power-sharing in the new government.

The Nepali Congress, supported by the Unified Marxist Leninist (UML) has said that the position of the Prime Minister and the President should go to separate parties while the Maoists have staked their claim on the both, Nepalnews reported (ANI)
