German foreign minister arrives in Lebanon

Beirut  - German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier arrived in Lebanon Sunday on the first leg of his Middle East tour, Lebanese officials said.

The German minister headed to the presidential palace to meet with the newly elected President Michel Suleiman.

He was scheduled to hold talks later with House Speaker Nabih Berri and Premier Fouad Seniora before heading on to Israel and the Palestinian territories. (dpa)
