Free J-K from family politics, says PM Modi
Poonch (J-K), Nov 28 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday urged the people of Jammu and Kashmir to make the state free of family politics.
"This family politics is a disease, you must make Jammu and Kashmir free of this family politics," said Prime Minister Modi while addressing a rally in Poonch district ahead of the second phase of assembly elections in the state.
He also said that funds allotted to the state from the Centre have not reached the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
"If funds allocated from Delhi for the people of Jammu and Kashmir had directly reached your bank accounts, you would have been among richest citizens of the nation. But were you benefited? Were your lives enlightened? Did it change? So where did the entire money go and who looted it? Shouldn't they be punished? he asked.
"If anyone has a right over nation's treasury, it is people of the nation, it is the people of Jammu and Kashmir," the Prime Minister added.
Referring to the high voter turnout of nearly 72 percent witnessed on Tuesday in the first phase of Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections, he said, "No matter what results come out, democracy has already won in Jammu and Kashmir, and democracy is our biggest strength."
Asserting that he always looks forward to the state with a vision of development, Prime Minister Modi said, "People criticize me a lot these days; they say I look into very small issues. You tell me, shouldn't there be toilets in every school? Our daughters are not able to complete their education due to lack of toilets in schools. Give me a chance to serve you; I have come here with a promise of development."
"None of my predecessors got the privilege that I have got. I got an opportunity to seek the blessings of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. I came here in 2014, will come in 2015 as well, whenever I have come, I have come with a message of development," he added.
The electioneering for the second phase of polling, scheduled to be held on December 2, is in full swing with the leaders of various political parties making all out efforts to woo the voters.
The results will be declared on December 23. (ANI)
