Nath To Hold Bilateral Talks With Swiss Economic Minister
New Delhi: In order to promote economic links between the two countries, the Union Commerce and industry minister Kamal Nath will hold bilateral talks with Swiss Economics Minister Doris Leuthard.
According to the Economics ministry the Swiss Ministry trip will mark the 60th anniversary of Switzerland and India's Treaty of Friendship and Establishment. Leuthard will be accompanied by a group of 25 people from the business field. The delegation will also visit Bangalore, Mysore and Mumbai. Leuthard will also hold talks with finance minister P. Chidambaram and science and technology minister Kapil Sibal on free trade and access for Swiss firms to the Indian market.
Meanwhile, Commerce and Industry Minister Kamal Nath said that the world at present is facing three main problems of food, fuels and fertilizers. Speaking at the session on "Globalization the New Mantra, But How do we Remain Competitive?” he said that the global food prices are increasing because of the greater use of agricultural land for the bio fuels production. He said that all countries of the world want to have business with India.
Switzerland is one of the largest investors in India as nearly 150 Swiss companies employ around 41,000 people in India.
