PML-N leaders to discuss modalities of judges issue with Zardari in Dubai
Lahore, Apr 28: A four-member PML-N delegation, including Shahbaz Sharif, the brother of Nawaz Sharif, will today leave for Dubai to hold parleys with PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari to discuss modalities for the restoration of the deposed Supreme Court judges before the April 30 deadline.
Zardari is in Dubai for “personal reasons” and is expected to stay there for a few days.
“The delegation during its meeting with Asif Zardari will find ways to explore how the matter of the judges could be amicably resolved in the absence of the assembly session,” The News quoted PML-N sources as saying. They added that restoring judges through an executive order by the prime minister before the deadline date could also be an option.
Before the departure of Shahbaz Sharif for Dubai, PML-N Quaid Mian Nawaz Sharif met Aitzaz Ahsan, president of the Pakistan Supreme Court Bar Association (PSCBA), where he held important discussion with leading lawyers on the issue of the restoration of judges.
According to sources, the issue of restoration of judges remains ambiguous and a majority of parliamentarians of both the parties are not sure of what is going on between their top leadership on the issue.
Nawaz Sharif is said to be under immense pressure from party members and the masses over the issue and he wanted to have a final dialogue with PPP Co-chairman Asif Zardari before making any final decision about the future of the coalition government.
The failure of the ruling coalition to present a resolution on the restoration of judges during the previous NA session had caused disappointment in the PML-N ranks, PML-N insiders said and added that the departure of a high-level PML-N delegation to Dubai might be a last ditch effort to make headway on the judicial issue and save the coalition, which is on the verge of collapse because of the firm stand on both sides on the judges issue.
